This is what I have to say, gamification can really be used to improve student engagement, not only in language learning, but also in Human Resource Management course.
One of my sessions was about how did the company choose the potential best candidate by using interviews. In this session, the common questions used by interviewers are introduced. To let the students have a deeper understanding of the interview process and the questions asked, I let the students to prepare in groups of 4-5 and each group should held a mock interview in the class, with one being the interviewee and the rest being the interviewers. It turned out that students really enjoyed this session and highlighted that they deepened understanding of the knowledge they have learnt.
In the next step, I am going to use more gamification or games as revealed from the course to help to improve student engagement.
